Music Music Music 8-6-2012
Hello Friends,
What a time we had last week!! Sadly had to miss Sunday, but both the Pour House and Dunes West were great nights of music. I’m sure the respective groups will be returning to those venues before too long! Also having my longtime pal Roger Bellow come last Tuesday was a pleasure as it always is!! Man, do we have fun together. Marci Shore also continues to amaze me every week!! She’s played some stellar fiddle on songs she’s never even heard and some great stuff on ones she has as well.
This week I’ll be a bit more off the grid as I do some private events for the Masters Golf out at Kiawah Island with my great friends in the Blue Plantation Band. I’ll also be putting in some studio time as my buddy Carroll Brown embarks on the beginnings of a new Irish project! Still I plan on being at a few other events this week as well….
Tonight Monday 8/6 Song Writer Night at Home Team BBQ West Ashley 8pm. Many wonderful writers perform just 2 or 3 songs each so there’s lots of variety. I plan on being there. When I can get to this I end up sitting in with several different folks and it’s always a good time!
Tuesday 8/7 Dunleavy’s Pub on Sullivan’s Island – Music starts at 7:30 – This week I’ll be playing mostly guitar and my great friend Marci Shore will join me on fiddle. Marci and I have been having a lot of fun playing music together and it seems to get better every week! Also never know who might show up to sit in. 🙂
Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday are all private functions.
Sunday I plan to hang with pals at Ted McKee’s gig at DD Peckers West Ashley (6:30-9:30) – Bob Tobin, Bruce Roberts, David Owens, myself and others make it out quite often and the music is great fun.
As you can probably tell, Sunday & Monday are shows featuring other folks where I sit in anytime I’m able to make it out. They happen weekly (though the Sundays may change come football season – news here but no film at 11). 🙂 I am blessed to have so many good friends who welcome me to perform with them and who sit in with me some too! Life IS good!!
Thanks to all of you for being supportive of local music (including me)! I’ve been kind of re-inventing myself lately in my music and it’s great to have the support of folks who have made some very nice comments and continue to be supportive. The Mandolin will always be my first instrument, but I have been enjoying playing guitar and singing. Wasn’t sure how it would go at first, but as I told #1 fan Miss Peggy a while back… “well, nobody ran out the door screaming and holding their ears, and I didn’t see any tomatoes flying so I guess it was ok!” 🙂 Maybe in 30 or 40 years I can be a human jukebox. For now I just keep trying to learn new songs every week.
Thanks again!! Hope to see you out there sometime soon!
Thanks,
